Veteran Maple Leafs forward Jason Spezza announced his retirement Sunday after a 19-season NHL career.

The 38-year-old is moving into the Maple Leafs' front office as a special assistant to general manager Kyle Dubas.

Taken second overall by Ottawa in the 2001 draft, Spezza spent his first 11 seasons with the Senators before joining the Dallas Stars in 2014 and Toronto in 2019.

New York Rangers coach Gerard Gallant, Florida Panthers interim coach Andrew Brunette and Calgary Flames coach Darryl Sutter are the finalists for the NHL's Jack Adams Award, given to the head coach who has "contributed the most to his team's success."

The award is voted on by members of the NHL Broadcasters' Association.

Aleksander Barkov, Patrice Bergeron and Elias Lindholm were named finalists for the Selke Trophy on Tuesday.

The award is given annually to the forward voted best to excel in the defensive aspects of the game as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The winner will be announced as part of the 2022 NHL Awards during the conference finals or Stanley Cup Final.

Auston Matthews, Igor Shesterkin and Connor McDavid were announced Thursday as finalists for the NHL's 2021-22 Hart Trophy, awarded annually to "the player adjudged to be most valuable to his team."

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association vote for the Hart. All NHL award winners will be announced during the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final, at dates and times to be announced.

Michael Bunting, Moritz Seider and Trevor Zegras were announced Wednesday as finalists for the NHL's 2021-22 Calder Trophy, awarded annually to "the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League."

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association vote on the Calder. Winners of all NHL awards will be revealed during the conference final and Stanley Cup Final at dates to be announced.

Jacob Markstrom, Juuse Saros, and Igor Shesterkin were announced Tuesday as finalists for the NHL's 2021-22 Vezina Trophy, awarded annually to the "goaltender who is adjudged to be the best at this position."

All three goalies are first-time finalists in this category.

Patrick Marleau is officially hanging up his skates.

The 42-year-old announced his retirement from hockey Tuesday, closing the book on a 23-year career spent between San Jose, Toronto and Pittsburgh. Through 1,779 games, Marleau amassed 566 goals and 1,197 points, while adding another 72 goals and 127 points in 195 postseason contests.

Marleau played 21 of his seasons with the Sharks, who selected the player from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, second overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. While Marleau never won a Stanley Cup, he holds Sharks franchise records in career games played, goals (522), points (1,111), power-play goals (163), shorthanded goals (17), game-winning goals (101) and shots (3,953).

Victor Hedman, Roman Josi and Cale Makar were announced Monday as finalists for the NHL's 2021-22 Norris Trophy, awarded annually "to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position."
